If you have a kitchen range or stove top near your kitchen cabinets, you need to take some special precautions. Primarily, you need to make sure that the underneath of your cabinets, if they are over the top of your stove/range, are overlaid with sheet metal - preferably of stainless-steel. Why? Well, it will make cleaning up grease and food spatters painless, and will also serve as a heat shield, helping to prevent stove top fires.
